We believe solar should be designed, not bolted on

Solar Creative is a design-led solar studio. We exist because solar is usually sold on price alone. That approach fails a whole category of buildings and the people who care about them.

Our discipline is integration. We work with solar tiles, BIPV and flush in-roof systems. Each one is detailed so the generating surface becomes part of the architecture. We think about the elevation first and the yield second, because how solar looks is the reason our clients come to us.

The UK market is well served at the volume end. It is also well served at the large commercial end. However, few residential studios treat design-led solar as a service in its own right.

We aim to be the studio an architect can specify. A self-builder can brief us, and a heritage owner can trust us with a listed roof. That space is narrow because the work needs care.

We are not tied to a single manufacturer, so we have no reason to push one product. On each project we specify the integrated system that suits the building. We also weigh the budget and the planning context. As a result, we act as an adviser rather than a supplier.

We work with architects who want a solar specialist to protect their design intent. We also work with self-builders who want a clean, modern roof. Finally, we help owners of period and listed homes, since they need solar that respects the building.

If looks matter to you as much as output, we are built for your project. However, not every roof suits integrated solar. Our process page and representative projects show how we decide.

Our guides follow a few simple principles. First, we research from primary sources. These include gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk, Historic England and manufacturer documentation. We name the source when we state a rule or a figure, because readers should be able to check it.

Second, we do not invent case studies, figures or testimonials. Our projects are described as representative, and we say so. Third, every page carries a review date, because rules change. We update a page when the rules or the evidence move.
